How To Paint FLOORS
IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW WHEN PAINTING
- Always follow the instructions on the product label for best results.
- Preparation and correct product application are important.
- There are no short-cuts.
- Always follow the correct drying time recommendations.
- Keep the room well ventilated when using an oil-based/solvent based paint.
- Do not paint exterior surfaces when rain is expected within 4 hours after paint application.
- Do not paint if surface temperatures are below 10 or above 30°C
- Do not paint exterior surfaces in windy conditions.
New Floors
Concrete Floors - Interior Paint
- Make sure the floor is dry and free of any contamination for e.g. oil, grease, soap, etc. (get supplier to measure moisture content)
- Sweep floor twice with soft broom and mop with a damp mop (do not wet floor or use dripping wet mop).
- Let surface dry for 2 hours.
- Apply one coat of “NEO Floor Paint” diluted with 5 to 10% of “NEO Mineral Turpentine” and allow to dry for 24 hours.
- Apply another coat of “NEO Floor Paint” undiluted and allow to dry for 24 hours.
NOTE: Apply the paint with a quality brush or Mohair Rolle. Use “NEO Mineral Turpentine” as cleaning solvent.

- Apply one coat of “NEO Epoxy Floor Paint” diluted with 10% of “NEO Epoxy Thinner” and allow to dry for 24 hours.
- Apply another coat “NEO Epoxy Floor Paint” undiluted and allow to dry for 24 hours.
NOTE: Apply with a quality brush or Mohair Roller. Use “NEO Epoxy Thinner” as cleaning solvent
Concrete Floors (Interior - Stone Sealer)
- Make sure the floor is dry and free of any contamination for e.g. oil, grease, soap, etc. (get supplier to measure moisture content)
- Sweep floor twice with soft broom and mop with damp mop (do not wet floor or use dripping wet mop).
- Let dry for 2 hours.
- Apply two to three coats of “NEO Stone Sealer (water based)” allowing 8 hours drying time between coats.
- Allow to dry for 24 hours after final coat.

Exterior Paint
- Only suited for floors which have proper damp proofing installed underneath the floor!
- Make sure the floor is dry and free of any contamination e.g. oil, grease, soap, etc. (get supplier to measure moisture content)
- Sweep the floor twice wa ith soft broom and mop with a damp mop (do not wet the floor or use a dripping wet mop).
- Let dry for 2 hours. Apply one coat of “NEO Floor Paint” diluted with 5 to 10% “NEO Mineral Turpentine” and allow to dry for 24 hours.
- Apply another coat of “NEO Floor Paint” undiluted and allow to dry for 24 hours.
NOTE: Apply with a quality brush or Mohair Roller. Use “NEO Mineral Turpentine” as cleaning solvent

Exterior - Stone Sealer
- Make sure the floor is dry and free of any contamination e.g. oil, grease, soap, etc. (get supplier to measure moisture content)
- Sweep the floor twice with a soft broom and mop with a damp mop (do not wet the floor or use a dripping wet mop).
- Let dry for 2 hours.
- Apply two to three coats of “NEO Stone Sealer (water-based)”, allowing 8 hours drying time between coats.
- Allow to dry for 24 hours after the final coat.
NOTE: Apply with a quality brush or Sheepskin Roller. Use water as a cleaning solvent
Wooden Floors (Interior Only)
- Sand in the direction of grain to smooth.
- Dust properly with damp cloth.
- Apply one coat of “NEO Floor Paint” diluted with 10% “NEO Mineral Turpentine” and allow to dry for 24 hours.
- Fill surface imperfections with “NEO Repair Paste” and work off to smooth with moist spatula. Larger imperfections should be filled in 2 mm thick layers and each layer allowed to dry for 2 hours before the next layer).
- Allow to dry for 24 hours.
- Apply one undiluted coat of “NEO Floor Paint” and allow to dry 24 hours.
NOTE: Apply with a quality brush or Mohair Roller. Use “NEO Mineral Turpentine” as cleaning solvent
- Sand in the direction of the grain to smooth.
- Dust properly with a damp cloth.
- Apply one coat of “NEO Siegellack” diluted with 10% “NEO Mineral Turpentine” and allow to dry for 24 hours.
- Sand slightly and dust properly.
- Apply one to two undiluted coats of “NEO Siegellack” and allow to dry for 24 hours (Sand and dust between coats).
NOTE: Apply with a quality brush or Mohair Roller. Use ‘NEO Mineral Turpentine” as a cleaning solvent.
Renovated Floors
Concrete Floors - Interior Paint
- Make sure the floor is dry and free of any contamination for e.g. oil, grease, soap, etc. (get supplier to measure moisture content)
- Remove any flaking and blistering paint mechanically & make sure existing coating is compatible with “NEO Floor Paint”.
- Sweep floor twice with soft broom and mop with damp mop (do not wet floor or use dripping wet mop).
- Let dry for 2 hours.
- Spot prime exposed cement with “NEO Floor Paint” diluted with 5 to 10% “NEO Mineral Turpentine” and allow to dry for 24 hours.
- Apply another coat “NEO Floor Paint” undiluted over whole surface and allow to dry for 24 hours.
NOTE: Apply with a quality brush or Mohair Roller. Use “NEO Mineral Turpentine” as cleaning solvent.
- Make sure the floor is dry and free of any contamination for e.g. oil, grease, soap, etc. (get supplier to measure moisture content)
- Remove any flaking and blistering paint mechanically & make sure the existing coating is compatible with “NEO Floor Paint”.
- Sand existing epoxy coating to mat, sweep floor twice with soft broom and mop with damp mop (do not wet floor or use dripping wet mop).
- Let dry for 2 hours. Spot prime bare cement with “NEO Epoxy Floor Paint” diluted with 10% “NEO Epoxy Thinner” and allow to dry for 24 hours.
- Apply another coat of “NEO Epoxy Floor Paint” undiluted and allow to dry for 24 hours.
NOTE: Apply with a quality brush or Mohair Roller. Use “NEO Epoxy Thinner” as a cleaning solvent.
Concrete Floors - Interior Stone Sealer
- Make sure the floor is dry and free of any contamination for e.g. oil, grease, soap, etc. (get supplier to measure moisture content)
- Remove any flaking and blistering existing Sealer mechanically & make sure existing coating is compatible with “NEO Stone Sealer (water based)”.
- Sweep floor twice with soft broom and mop with damp mop (do not wet floor or use dripping wet mop).
- Let dry for 2 hours. Spot prime bare cement with one coat “NEO Stone Sealer (water based)” and let dry for 8 hours.
- Apply two coats “NEO Stone Sealer (water based)” over whole surface allowing 8 hours drying time between coats.
- Allow to dry for 24 hours after final coat.
NOTE: Apply with a quality brush or Sheepskin Roller. Use water as a cleaning solvent.

Exterior Paint
- Only suitable for floors that have proper damp proofing installed underneath. If existing floor Paint is excessively blistering and peeling, no / damaged damp coring is in place, resulting the paint to fail – such floors cannot be painted.
- Make sure the floor is dry and free of any contamination for e.g. oil, grease, soap, etc. (get supplier to measure moisture content)
- Remove any flaking and blistering paint mechanically & make sure existing coating is compatible with “NEO Floor Paint”.
- Sweep floor twice with soft broom and mop with damp mop (do not wet floor or use dripping wet mop).
- Let dry for 2 hours. Spot prime bare cement with “NEO Floor Paint” diluted with 5 to 10% “NEO Mineral Turpentine” and allow to dry for 24 hours.
- Apply another coat “NEO Floor Paint” undiluted and allow to dry for 24 hours.

- Apply two coats “NEO Tennis Court Paint” over whole area allowing 4 hours drying time between coats.
- Allow to dry for 24 hours after final coat.
NOTE: Apply with a quality brush or Sheepskin Roller. Use water as cleaning solvent.
Exterior Stone Sealer
- Make sure the floor is dry and free of any contamination for e.g. oil, grease, soap, etc. (get supplier to measure moisture content)
- Remove any flaking and blistering existing Sealer mechanically & make sure existing coating is compatible with “NEO Stone Sealer (water based)”.
- Sweep floor twice with soft broom and mop with damp mop (do not wet floor or use dripping wet mop).
- Spot prime bare cement with one coat “NEO Stone Sealer (water based)” and let dry for 8 hours.
- Let dry for 2 hours. Apply two coats “NEO Stone Sealer (water based)” over whole area allowing 8 hours drying time between coats.
- Allow to dry for 24 hours after final coat.

- Make sure the existing coating is compatible with “NEO Floor Paint”.
- Clean properly with a damp cloth.
- Spot prime bare wood with “NEO Floor Paint” diluted with 10% “NEO Mineral Turpentine” and allow to dry for 24 hours.
- Fill surface imperfections with “NEO Repair Paste” and work off to smooth with a moist spatula (Larger imperfections should be filled in 2 mm thick layers and each layer allowed to dry for 2 hours before the next layer).
- Allow to dry for 24 hours.
- Apply one undiluted coat of “NEO Floor Paint” over the whole area and allow to dry for 24 hours.
